Are You Ready for National Train Your Dog Month – January 2014?
For the fourth annual National Train Your Dog Month, we will promote training the family dog with everyday manners – the behaviors found in the APDT's Canine Life and Social Skills program!
We will offer a variety of free webinars to the public with tips and tricks for teaching the "basics" – sit, down, stay, wait, coming when called and walking on a loose leash. We will also focus Facebook chats for the public on these topics to help promote taking your dog to a basic training class and understanding how your life with your dog can be enhanced by knowing these behaviors.
Of course, what would National Train Your Dog Month be without contests? We have several contests set up:
C.L.A.S.S. "Viral" Video Contest
Everyone familiar with social media knows the power of having a video go "viral" on YouTube. Our contest will be to create a video that exemplifies the C.L.A.S.S. program. The audience for the video should be the everyday dog owner and should be no longer than two (2) minutes. The deadline for submissions is December 20, 2013. Full details on video specifications and the application form can be found online at www.trainyourdogmonth.com/contest. The winner will receive a full registration for the APDT Conference in October 2014. This contest is open to APDT members only. Viral Video Contest Rules
Local Promotion Contest
Each year APDT members come up with creative ways to promote National Train Your Dog Month in their own locales. This contest will focus on the most creative local promotion of the event. The deadline for submissions is February 3, 2014. Full details and guidelines for submissions can be found online at www.trainyourdogmonth.com/members/promotion. This contest is open to the public, from everyday dog owner to full-fledged dog trainer. We're looking for clips that let the public better understand the value and benefits of training your dog. We will choose three winners who will each receive a $25 Visa gift card. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2014.
